Skills & Experience:
- Began his career in banking before joining McKinsey & Company as Engagement Manager.
- Over 26 years of experience in the insurance and investment sectors, 20 of which with the Allianz Group.
- Whilst at Allianz he occupied several executive roles in different European countries (Germany, Belgium, Netherlands). More recently he was CEO of Allianz Direct Benelux, before joining Allianz Maroc as CEO and the Allianz Africa board in 2018.
- Joined MUA in September 2022 as Group CEO.

Jerome Katz
Executive Director and Country CEO - Tanzania
Citizen of Mauritius and Resident of Tanzania
Qualifications: Master in Management ESCP Europe (Paris, France).
Skills & experience:
- Started his career with the American bank JPMorgan in Paris in 2006.
- Joined Feber Associates (now part of MUA) in 2009 as the Manager. From 2014 until 2023 he oversaw the group strategy, with extensive involvement in the African subsidiaries, strategic marketing and digitalisation and also supervised all the group’s investment and asset management activities.
- In September 2023 he became CEO of MUA Tanzania.
Mehtab Aly
Director
Citizen and Resident of Mauritius
Qualifications: Master in Business Administration from the Université de Bordeaux IV (France).
Skills & experience:
- Mergers and acquisitions specialist with more than 10 years’ experience in corporate valuation issues, deal structuring, raising finance and corporate restructuring, also expert in stock exchange related matters, from IPOs and takeovers to delistings;
- Worked for more than 15 years at PwC;
- Joined MUA in 2016 as Head of Mergers & Acquisitions.
Maheboob Alibhai

- Actively involved in the acquisition of Phoenix of East Africa Company Limited from Sun
- Alliance in the United Kingdom in 1992.
- Founded the Phoenix Assurance Group of Companies with licensed operations in Tanzania (1999), Uganda (2003), Rwanda (2006), Zambia (2009), Botswana (2009), Mozambique (2012), Namibia (2015) and Swaziland (2016).
- Chairman of the Phoenix Assurance Group of Companies which operate in Zambia, Botswana, Mozambique, Namibia and Swaziland, and a Director Phoenix of Tanzania Assurance Company Limited and MUA Insurance (Uganda) Limited.
- Founding member of the Young Presidents’ Organization Chapter in Nairobi – YPO Gold Nairobi Chapter, member of YPO Africa Great Lakes Chapter, YPO Africa Great Leopard Valley Chapter, member of YPO Pan Africa Chapter, member of Chief Executives’ Organization (CEO) and a charter member of TiE Africa.
- Founder of a number of successful start-up businesses in Eastern and Southern Africa, as well as acquiring various existing businesses.
Japhet Meeme Mucheke

Japhet holds a Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) degree in Accounting from University of Nairobi (UON) and MBA in Finance from University of Leicester, UK.
Skills & Experience
- Previously worked at Deloitte as Senior Auditor in charge of the planning and execution of audit assignments for a wide range of industries.
- Worked in Nation Media Group as Group Financial Controller for over a decade.
- Well experienced in business operations, decision support, planning and analysis, reporting, budgeting and budgetary controls and tax planning.
- He was appointed Director of the Phoenix of East Africa Assurance Company Ltd in 2018 and is now a director of MUA Insurance (Kenya) Ltd.

Johnston holds a Bachelor of Commerce (B. Com) Degree in Accounting from the University of Nairobi (UON) and he is a CPA(K).

He is a member the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK).
Skills and Experience
- Johnston started his career as an Assistant Accountant at Jubilee Insurance Company of Kenya Limited. He was then promoted to a Consultant at Jubilee Insurance Tanzania Limited before becoming the Group Accountant at Jubilee Insurance Holdings Limited.
- He was promoted to the position of Finance Manager at Jubilee Insurance Company Burundi Limited before becoming a Senior Finance Manager (Head of Finance) for Jubilee Insurance Company Burundi.
- He later moved to Prime Insurance Rwanda as the Chief Finance Officer before moving to Phoenix of East Africa Assurance Company Limited as Head of Finance. He was later promoted to Head of Finance and Operations at MUA Insurance (Kenya) Limited before merger with Saham.
- He is now the Head of Finance & Investments at MUA Insurance (Kenya) Limited.
Mary Kimani
Internal Audit Manager
Citizen and resident of Kenya.
Qualifications:
Mary holds a Bachelor of Commerce (B. Com) degree in Finance from the University of Nairobi (UON).
She is a CPA (K) and a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA).
Membership
She is a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) and Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA).
Skills and Experience
- Mary has over 13 years of experience having started her career as a Senior External Auditor at KPMG Kenya in 2008.
- She later moved to Jubilee Insurance where she worked as a Senior Accountant. She was promoted to Deputy Chief Accountant before moving to Saham Assurance Company Kenya Limited as a Chief Accountant. Later, she was promoted to the position of Internal Audit Manager.
- She is currently the Internal Audit Manager at MUA Insurance (Kenya) Limited.
Gerishon Mwangi
Acting Principal Officer & Head of Customer Service
Citizen and resident of Kenya.
Qualifications:
Gerishon holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Nairobi, a Diploma in Risk Management from the Institute of Risk Management (UK) and a Bachelor of Commerce in Marketing from the University of Nairobi. He is an Advanced Management Program Graduate of the Strathmore Business School, a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), a Certified Public Secretary (CPS) and a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).

He is a member of ICPAK.
Skills and Experience:
- Gerishon began his career in the insurance industry at UAP Insurance Company Ltd as Assistant Manager Risk and Compliance and later rose to the position of Risk and Compliance Manager.
- Subsequently, he took on the role of Group Internal Audit Manager at UAP Holdings.
- Most recently, Gerishon worked with AAR Insurance as the Head of Internal Audit.
